The Breadline restaurant has excellent bread, as you’d expect. Good veggie pizza and lentil salad, too. Lunch for two costs about $20.

Kabob Bazaar (located across from the Clarendon Metro stop) serves a great kabob kubideh. I had it with rice, and hummus on the side. Their hot tea, served in a glass, is also great. Worth a visit if you like middle eastern food or Persian food. Dinner for two costs about $30 (ex. wine, tip).

I recently ate at three chain restaurants for the first time:

  • Austin Grill: nice fajitas. Need to visit a few more times and try some more dishes, but pretty good so far.
  • Nando’s: Afro-Portuguese chicken. Very good. I’ll be going back for sure.
  • Clyde’s: I had the lasagna, which was a bit underwhelming. Maybe they do a better job with steak, oysters, etc.

Lunch/dinner for two will run about $20 – $30, not including tip & drinks.

Had a great salad yesterday at Chop’t. They use a mezzaluna knife to chop their salads into small bits – very tasty.

Le Pain Quotidien is a pleasant Belgian/French restaurant (I visited the one in Capitol Hill). I particularly recommend the black bean hummus + avocado tartine. The bread basket sampler is good, too – though a bit much for two people.

My snapshot of Kelly’s Irish Times (a tavern located near Union Station) was selected by the Schmap.com web-guide to DC.

(It’s not like I was paid any money, but it’s cool that DC tourists looking for an Irish tavern might see one of my photos.)
